North-Facing Innovation: Balancing Victorian Heritage with Modernity

The primary challenge for this ground floor extension was bringing natural light into a North-facing space. Working closely with the architect, we implemented an innovative "cake slicer" window and a striking rooflight to flood the heart of the home with light.

The project created a modern open-plan layout that harmonises contemporary timber cabinetry and a sleek kitchen island with the property’s original Victorian character. We carefully balanced heritage features with modern elegance, ensuring the home feels both stylish and welcoming while meeting the functional needs of a growing family.

Minimalist Architecture and Seamless Indoor-Outdoor Flow

The exterior of this Catford extension features a clean, minimalist silhouette and specialist cladding. To achieve a sharp architectural finish, the MyExtension team developed a clever solution for hidden guttering, resulting in a sleek roofline and a modern aesthetic.

Full-height glazing blurs the line between the interior and the garden terrace, creating an effortless indoor-outdoor flow. Every external detail was refined to ensure the new addition complements the historic Victorian home while offering a contemporary extension for everyday living and entertaining.
